Get acquainted with Paris, discover the main monuments and highlights during this walk along the Seine River. Your guide will meet you near Notre-Dame cathedral and start the tour with a visit of this Gothic cathedral. Then walking through the Ile de la Cité (City Island) past the Conciergerie to the Pont-Neuf, the guide will tell you something of the history of Paris.
From the left bank of the Seine, enjoy the sight of the vast Louvre Museum. This former royal palace extends some 1600ft. From the interior courtyard of the Louvre where the glass Pyramid stands, you will take a walk through the oldest gardens in Paris, the Tuileries, along with Parisians jogging or simply resting in the shade.
Continue your walk to the Concorde Square, where a guillotine was erected during the Terror in 1793. It’s a vast square dominated by an antique Egyptian obelisk and opening onto the Champs-Elysées. At the western end of this avenue stands the imposing Arch of Triumph built by Napoleon and a major monument in the city.
You’ll walk up the Champs-Elysées as far as the Grand-Palais, a huge exhibition hall built in 1900. And from the spectacular Alexander III Bridge a large open view will show you the Hôtel des Invalides and the impressive Eiffel Tower built in 1889.
